Accreditations
All L M Wood advisors must be licensed as CFP
(“Certified Financial Planner”) practitioners, or must be actively
pursuing the certification.
This is the only credential in the financial planning field
that, as owner and President, I will accept.
It is awarded by the Certified Financial Planning Board of
Standards to individuals following their successful completion of
the following:
- Education in the financial planning body
of knowledge at a CFP Board registered institution, covering
several topics in the fields of investments, retirement
planning, tax preparation/planning, insurance and other general
principles of financial planning.
- Successful completion of a two day
comprehensive national examination having an historical pass
rate of less than 60%.
This comprehensive final is allowed to be taken after successful
completion of roughly two years of class work and testing on
items mentioned in bullet #1 above.
- Three years of practical on-the-job
experience in the area of personal financial planning for
individuals.
- On-going adherence to a strict CFP Board
Code of Professional Ethics.
